LOU WISLOCKI writes from the world of the Great Lakes, where he worked as a deckhand on ore freighters during the 1970 and 1971 shipping seasons.
His early love of language led him to a bachelor's degree in English in 1975, with studies centered on English and American prose and poetry.
After two years of seminary training, he was ordained a Christian minister and spent 28 years serving in three congregations consecutively, work that deepened his interest in storytelling, human character, and moral complexity.
Wislocki lives in Grand Rapids, MI.
